With this contribution, Terry and Sonny Bunn of
Tuscaloosa’s S.T. Bunn Construction Company are
supporting renovation of the James P. Homer Field
House, home to Tiger football and UWA’s athletic
training and sports medicine program.
“The University is very appreciative of Terry Bunn’s
leadership and generosity,” said President Richard
D. Holland. “He is a distinguished alumnus who has
brought honor to the institution through his success
in the business world, and we are glad he is giving
back to his alma mater.”
Through his gift, Bunn, an avid sports fan, wants to
add expanded locker room, team meeting room and
office space for the football team and coaches.
“I have the utmost confidence in Coach Bobby Wallace
and his staff,” said Bunn, whose wife, Kay, attended
the University and whose son, Kane, is a current UWA
student. “It is with pleasure and pride that Sonny
and I can support the Tiger football program with
this gift.”
In addition to his pledge, Bunn also completed a
paving project at UWA’s Tartt Field and has another
in the works at the Black Belt Garden. A longtime
supporter of the University, Bunn is a past
recipient of the National Alumni Association’s
Alumni Loyalty Award.
“Terry and I have had a close personal relationship
for over 30 years, and I appreciate very much his
friendship and his commitment to our university,”
said Clemit Spruiell, vice president for
institutional advancement. “It is very rewarding
when our graduates use their resources to show
appreciation for what their UWA experience means to
them.”
The
University We Will Be” campaign is an ongoing
initiative to raise $15 million in gifts and pledges
by 2011 for The University of West Alabama. These
funds will improve campus facilities, provide
additional scholarships, enhance the campus learning
environment, support the faculty and fund community
outreach projects. For more information about the
campaign, please contact the UWA Development Office
