Mr. and Ms. UWA and UWA Favorites chosen

LIVINGSTON, Ala.--In a recent campus-wide election, University of West Alabama students recognized a pair of seniors who exemplify the University experience by honoring J.D. Todd of Ward as Mr. UWA and Elizabeth Vaughan of Sandy, Utah, as Ms. UWA. Students also elected five juniors and seniors as UWA Favorites.
 


Todd

Todd, a computer information systems major, serves as a UWA Ambassador and vice president of Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity. He is also active in the Wesley Foundation, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Overflow campus ministries. Todd is also a member of Cardinal Key, Alpha Chi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma, Blue Key, Phi Kappa Phi, Delta Mu Delta and Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor societies. He is included in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He is the son of James and Josie Todd.

 

 

 

 


Vaughan

Vaughan, a business administration major, serves as a Campus Activities Board director and Diamond Darling. She is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Delta Mu Delta and Blue Key honor societies. A president’s and dean’s list scholar, Vaughan is also a residence life desk assistant and a research assistant for the UWA Small Business Development Center. She is the daughter of Mary and Hines Vaughan.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Those selected as University of West Alabama Favorites include senior Brent Bumgarner, senior Zachary Maio, junior Hannah Meherg, senior Amanda Peabody and junior Casey Smith.
 


Bumgarner

Bumgarner, an engineering major from Kennesaw, Ga., is a four-year member of the Tiger baseball team. He serves as Fellowship of Christian Athletes president, a UWA Ambassador and an orientation leader. Bumgarner is also a member of Blue Key honor society and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He is the son of Lisa and Gary Millican and Curtis Bumgarner.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Maio

Maio, an elementary education major from Andalusia, serves as yearbook editor, president of Kappa Delta Pi honor society and a resident assistant. Maio is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Blue Key, Alpha Chi and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. Residence Hall Association vice president, he is also included in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He is the son of Frank and Linda Maio.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Meherg

Meherg, an English education major from Deatsville, serves as president of the Student Government Association and the LEAD alumni ambassadors. She is a UWA Ambassador and a member of the yearbook staff. She previously served as SGA attorney general and Wesley Foundation president. Meherg is also a member of the UWA Honors Program and Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Blue Key, Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. She is the daughter of Joe and D’Aun Meherg.

 

 

 

 

 


Peabody

Peabody, an English education major from Mobile, is captain of the Stars of Alabama dance team, a hall director and a LEAD alumni ambassador. Peabody served as a member of the homecoming court. She is a member of the UWA Honors Program and Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Sigma Tau Delta, Blue Key and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. She is the daughter of Robert and Gail Peabody.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Smith

Smith, an English education major from Cordova, serves as Student Government Association business manager, a UWA Ambassador and an orientation leader. Vice president of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, she has served on the student newspaper and the yearbook staffs. Smith is also a member of Cardinal Key, Blue Key, Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. She is the daughter of Tim and Lisa Sims.
