LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—In
a recent campus-wide election, University of West
Alabama students recognized a pair of seniors who
exemplify the University experience by honoring
Kaylan C. McDuff of Moundville as Mr. UWA and Audrey
McClendon of Greensboro as Ms. UWA. Students also
elected eight juniors and seniors as UWA Favorites.

Mr. UWA Kaylan McDuff and Ms. UWA Audrey
McClendon |
McDuff, an accounting major, has served as both
Student Government Association president and
attorney general. He currently serves as president
of Omicron Delta Kappa and the Accounting Club. He
is also vice president of Blue Key Honor Society. A
UWA Ambassador and orientation leader, McDuff has
also held several offices in Sigma Pi fraternity and
was recently named Brother of the Year. He is also a
resident director and UWA’s representative for
YMCA's Collegiate Legislature. He is the son of Lucy
and Buddy McDuff and the grandson of Earl and Tonie
McDuff and Loretta Pearson.
McClendon, a business administration major, serves
as captain of the cheerleading squad, director of
the Campus Activities Board and 2006 Homecoming
Queen. She is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa
and Blue Key honor societies, and she is included in
Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities
and Colleges. McClendon is also a resident
assistant and an orientation leader. She is the
daughter of Timmy and Beth McClendon and the
granddaughter of Martha Barton and Trilbie
McClendon.

Favorites include junior Erika Baggett, senior
Danielle Buckalew, senior Christopher Colvin, junior
Nicole Fenderson, senior Derrick Hester, senior
Keonn Nettles, senior Kelly Sheehan and senior J.D.
Todd.

Baggett |
Baggett, a business administration major from
Fruitdale, is president of Alpha Sigma Alpha
sorority. She serves as an orientation leader and
LEAD member. Baggett is also a member of Omicron
Delta Kappa, Alpha Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, Blue Key, Phi
Eta Sigma and Cardinal Key honor societies. She is
the daughter of David Baggett and Burma Dean
Baggett. Her grandparents are Asalene and the late
Luke Baggett and Glendean and the late Edgar Ray
Taylor.

Buckalew |
Buckalew, an English major from Livingston, is the
former president of SGA, Omicron Delta Kappa and
Blue Key. An orientation leader and homecoming maid,
she is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Tau
Delta and Blue Key honor societies. She is the
daughter of Danny Buckalew and Tim and Beverly
Conway and the granddaughter of Lynn and Lucille
Hanson and Doris Buckalew.

Colvin |
Colvin, a computer information systems major from
Livingston, is a UWA Ambassador, tutor and member of
Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and Delta Sigma Pi
professional business fraternity. He serves on the
Interfraternity Council and SGA. Colvin is also a
member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Blue Key honor
societies. He is the son of Mike and Peggy Colvin
and grandson of the late Benjamin and Olive Colvin
and the late Wallace and Miriam Sanders.

Fenderson |
Fenderson, an accounting major from Birmingham, is a
member of Delta Mu Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor
societies and Delta Sigma Pi professional business
fraternity. She also serves as a Student Support
Services and athletic department tutor. She is the
daughter of William and Delphine Fenderson.

Hester |
Hester, a mathematics education major from Millry,
serves as a UWA Ambassador and orientation leader. A
member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, he was named 2006
Greek Man of the Year. Hester is a member of Omicron
Delta Kappa, Kappa Mu Eplison, Blue Key, Cardinal
Key, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma and Kappa Delta Pi
honor societies. He was also named the 2007
University Scholar in mathematics. He is the son of
Mark and Lori Hester and grandson of Darrell and Ann
Smith.

Nettles |
Nettles, a physical education major from Macon,
Miss., serves as a resident assistant and Upward
Bound mentor. Nettles is a member of the Alpha Phi
Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and he serves on the Student
Government Association and Interfraternity Council.
He is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Chi
honor societies. He is the son of Linda King.

Sheehan |
Sheehan, a psychology major from Orrville, served as
SGA vice president and an orientation leader. Named
Miss UWA 2005, she competed in the Miss Alabama
Pageant. Sheehan is also a member of Blue Key and
Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. She is the
daughter of William and Lisa Sheehan and the
granddaughter of Clifford Sheehan and Donnie Malone.

Todd |
Todd, a computer information systems major from
Ward, serves as senior vice president of Delta Sigma
Pi professional business fraternity and president of
Delta Mu Delta Honor Society. He is also a UWA
Ambassador and a CIS supervisor for the College of
Business. Todd is also a member of Cardinal Key,
Alpha Chi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma, Blue
Key, Phi Kappa Phi and Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor
societies. He is the son of James and Josie Todd. |
