LIVINGSTON, Ala.--The University of West Alabama’s Division of Community Outreach Services will host two free financial seminars on Tuesday, Feb. 19 to help answer questions about income taxes and provide several useful strategies for managing money.

First, the Small Business Development Center will host a “Small Business Tax Seminar” from 8 a.m. until noon in the Continuing Education Building at Alabama Southern College’s Demopolis Campus. The workshop will provide small business owners and self-employed individuals with an overview of federal and state tax requirements to help them understand and meet their tax obligations.

The day’s second workshop will provide useful information on how to navigate these uncertain financial times. “Show me the Money! Strategies for Financial Success in Uncertain Times” is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. in UWA’s Brock Y-Hall. Highlights will include learning where to turn for free tax filing advice and how to make the most of the tax rebates, discovering how to get the training needed for a better job and finding out if refinancing or purchasing a home is the right move.

This workshop includes dinner and the chance to win a $100 gift certificate for the grand opening of the new Fred’s in Livingston. Seating is limited to the first 50 participants. The workshop is sponsored by UWA’s Division of Community Outreach Services, Regions Bank, the City of Livingston, and Greene/Sumter Enterprise Community.
