LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—The
University of West Alabama welcomes the final
scholar in its 2006 Fulbright Lecture Series when
Dr. Ru-De Liu, an educational psychology professor,
visits the Livingston campus the last week in April.
Dr. Liu presents his lecture
"Schooling and Curriculum Reform in China" Monday,
April 24 at 6 p.m. in Brock Y-Hall.

Dr.
Liu, chosen by the College of Natural Sciences and
Mathematics and the College of Education to
enlighten their students with his international
perspective, is a professor in the School of
Psychology at Beijing Normal University in China.
Currently, Dr. Liu is hosted by the University of
Missouri--Columbia’s Educational Psychology Program.
Participation in the Fulbright Scholar Program marks
his third academic visit. Dr. Liu has also studied
in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. His research
specialties include IT-based learning and
instruction, problem solving and thinking and
learning to learn. Dr. Liu has published eight books
and over 40 articles.
Each year, through the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program,
some 800 foreign faculty come to the United States
to lecture, do research or participate in seminars.
The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES),
under a cooperative agreement with the United States
Department of State, administers the program for
faculty and professionals. The University of West
Alabama is fortunate to have secured four visiting
scholars from this distinguished group. In addition
to Dr. Liu, UWA also hosted scholars from the
Netherlands, the Slovak Republic and Kazakhstan.
