LIVINGSTON,
Ala.--The
University of West Alabama has announced the
promotion of one of its own as the University’s new
Associate Director of Development.

Wesley Gordon will now
take on the responsibility of many of the
fundraising activities for the 172-year-old
Livingston institution. He will assist in the
efforts to obtain private funds, including
constituency-based major fund raising, annual
giving, planned giving, and corporate and foundation
support.
Gordon previously
served as West Alabama’s Assistant Athletic
Director, focusing on academics and game operations
and working with the Tiger Club, the University’s
athletic booster organization. He took on his new
duties in early September.
The Columbus, Miss.,
native holds a bachelor’s degree in clinical
exercise physiology and master’s degree in sport
administration, both from Mississippi State
University.
“We are pleased that
Wes has taken on this new role with the foundation,”
said Clemit Spruiell, vice president for
institutional advancement. “We are confident that
his leadership and work ethic will be important
factors as we work to achieve the University’s
fundraising goals for “The University We Will Be”
campaign and beyond.”
“The University We Will
Be” capital campaign is an ongoing effort to raise
$15 million in private support for a range of
academic enrichment, outreach and construction
needs.
The UWA Foundation
administers most campus fundraising activities and
endowment funds, garnering annual support with gifts
from individual donors, corporations, foundations,
trusts and estates.
