LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—The
University of West Alabama celebrates Homecoming
Oct. 4-7, honoring “The Greatest Generations,” the
alumni of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.
Homecoming activities begin Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the
annual Serendipity talent show. Students will
compete in four categories for prize money, and the
Homecoming Queen will be announced at the show.
Serendipity is at 7 p.m. in Pruitt Gym. Admission is
free.
The UWA alumni party, sponsored by the National
Alumni Association, begins Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m.
at the Spence-Moon House. Always a time for friends,
food and fun, this year’s party features Hal Newman
and the Mystics of Time band. The homecoming bonfire
and pep rally starts at 8:30 p.m. on the Student
Union Building lawn, followed by a band party on the
lawn.
The College of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
breakfast starts off the day, Saturday, Oct. 7 at 8
a.m. at the Spence-Moon House. A reception for
alumni of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s follows at 9
a.m. in Webb Hall Parlor. The homecoming parade
winds through downtown Livingston beginning at 10:45
a.m., featuring the homecoming court and a variety
of floats from campus organizations. The College of
Business will hosts alumni and friends for lunch in
the Wise Conference Room in Wallace Hall at 11:45
a.m.
Next, all supporters are invited to the National
Alumni Association annual meeting at 1 p.m. in the
Bell Conference Center. Alumni achievement awards
will be presented from each college or division, and
two former athletes will be inducted into the UWA
Athletic Hall of Fame.
A
tailgate party on the armory lawn begins at 3 p.m.,
with a pep rally featuring the Scarlet Band from
Tigerland, UWA cheerleaders and Luie. A formal
dedication ceremony of the Charles F. Loveless
Collection in Literature is planned for 3:15 p.m. in
the Julia Tutwiler Library.
Kickoff for the game between West Alabama and Webber
International is 4 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. The
homecoming court will be presented a halftime, and
the new queen will be crowned. Following the
football game, the College of Liberal Arts will host
a cocktail party at the Spence-Moon House.
