LIVINGSTON,
Ala.--The
University of West Alabama will celebrate Homecoming
Oct. 31-Nov. 3, honoring alumni of the 1950s and
1960s with a “Rockin’ and Roarin’” weekend.
Homecoming activities
begin Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the annual Serendipity
talent show. Students will compete for prize money
in four categories, and the homecoming queen will be
announced at the show. Serendipity begins at 7 p.m.
in Pruitt Gym. Admission is free.
On Thursday, Nov. 1,
UWA cheerleaders, LUie, the Tiger football team and
head coach Bobby Wallace will be on hand for the
homecoming bonfire and pep rally at 8:30 p.m. on the
Student Union Building lawn. Following the pep
rally, the Department of Student Affairs will host a
party featuring the popular college band U.S.
The UWA alumni party,
sponsored by the National Alumni Association, begins
at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Spence-Moon
House. Always a great time for friends, food and
fun, this year’s party will feature rock-and-roll
band C+.
On Saturday, Nov. 3,
homecoming festivities begin with the College of
Mathematics and Natural Sciences breakfast at 8 a.m.
at the Spence-Moon House. A reception for alumni of
the 1950s and 1960s follows at 9 a.m. in Webb Hall
Parlor. The homecoming parade winds through downtown
Livingston beginning at 10:45 a.m., featuring the
homecoming court and a variety of floats from campus
organizations. The College of Business will host
alumni and friends for lunch in the Wise Conference
Room in Wallace Hall at 11:45 a.m.
Next, all supporters
are invited to the National Alumni Association
annual meeting at 1 p.m. in the Bell Conference
Center. Alumni achievement awards will be presented
from each college or division, and two former
athletes will be inducted into the UWA Athletic Hall
of Fame.
A pep rally at 3 p.m.
on the armory lawn will feature the Scarlet Band
from Tigerland, UWA cheerleaders and Luie. The
College of Education will also be on the lawn prior
to the football game with a tailgate tent.
West Alabama and Delta
State University will kickoff at 4 p.m. at Tiger
Stadium. The homecoming court will be presented a
halftime, and the new queen will be crowned.
Following the football game, the College of Liberal
Arts will host a cocktail party at the Spence-Moon
House.
