LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—Seven
outstanding young women will represent The
University of West Alabama on the 2006 homecoming
court. The homecoming queen, a well-guarded secret
that will be announced during the annual Serendipity
talent show, is chosen from the five elected
upperclassmen.
The other four nominees for homecoming queen will
serve as the queen’s court, along with the freshman
and sophomore maids.

Harris |
Lindsay Harris of Haleyville was chosen to
represent the freshman class. She is the daughter of
Johnie and Kathy Harris. A nursing major, Harris is
a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, the UWA
Honors Program and Phi Eta Sigma honor society. She
serves as a Student Government Association
representative and a resident assistant.

Lenning |
Sarah Lenning of Livingston will represent the
sophomore class. She is the daughter of Bill and Amy
Lenning. Sarah is majoring in pre-optometry. She is
a Student Government Association representative, a
resident assistant and a Diamond Darling. Lenning is
a FocusFirst volunteer, and she is very active in
the Baptist Campus Ministry and the Wesley
Foundation.

Berry |
Alisha Berry of Madison is a member of the
homecoming court. She is the daughter of Randall and
Tracey Berry. She is a senior biology comprehensive
major. Berry is a member of the UWA cross country
and softball teams and Omicron Delta Kappa. She
serves as president of the Residence Hall
Association and as a hall director. Berry is an
Orientation Leader, a member of the Student
Government Association, Sigma Pi Sweetheart and a
UWA Favorite.

Buckalew |
Danielle Buckalew of Livingston is a member of the
homecoming court. She is the daughter of Danny
Buckalew and Tim and Beverly Conway. Buckalew is a
senior majoring in English with a minor in business.
She serves as president of the Student Government
Association, Omicron Delta Kappa and Blue Key.
Buckalew is also a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Phi
Kappa Phi and Sigma Tau Delta honor societies and
the student newspaper staff. She has also served as
SGA vice president, an Orientation Leader, a UWA
Ambassador, a peer tutor and a UWA Favorite.

Hill |
Va’Ronica Hill of Meridian, Miss., is a member of
the homecoming court. She is the daughter of Eddie
and Vivian Hill. Hill is a junior majoring in
mathematics and computer information systems. She
serves as secretary of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority
Inc. and treasurer of Alpha Phi Omega national
service fraternity. Hill is a member of the Scarlet
Band from Tigerland, the UWA singers, the university
choir and the Angelic Voices of Faith gospel choir.
She has served as an SGA representative, a resident
assistant and an Orientation Leader.

McClendon |
Audrey McClendon of Greensboro is a member of the
homecoming court. She is the daughter of Timmy and
Beth McClendon. She is a senior majoring in business
administration with an emphasis in marketing.
McClendon serves as captain of the cheerleader
squad, a resident assistant and a Campus Activities
Board director. She is an Orientation Leader and a
member of Blue Key and Omicron Delta Kappa honor
societies.

Naylor |
Candi Naylor of Greensboro is a member of the
homecoming court. She is the daughter of Scott
Naylor and Mr. and Mrs. David Hollingsworth. Naylor
is a senior majoring in business administration. She
has served as a UWA Ambassador, an Orientation
Leader, LEI representative and a cheerleader. She is
also a member of Phi Mu sorority. Naylor was chosen
Miss Greek Goddess, Sigma Pi Sweetheart and one of
Livingston’s Loveliest.
The seven ladies will ride through downtown
Livingston in the homecoming parade at 10:45 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 7. They will also be presented during
halftime of the UWA-Webber International football
game. Last year’s queen Melissa Johnson and
President Richard Holland will crown the new
homecoming queen. |
