2008 Homecoming court chosen

LIVINGSTON, Ala.--University of West Alabama students have chosen seven outstanding young women to represent them on the 2008 Homecoming court. The homecoming queen, who is chosen from the five elected upperclassmen, is a well-guarded secret that will be announced during the annual Serendipity talent show. The other four nominees for homecoming queen will serve as the queen’s court, along with the freshman and sophomore maids.
 


Jimerson

Shayna Jimerson of Butler was chosen to represent the freshman class. She is the daughter of Shane and Theresa Jimerson. A communicative disorders major, Jimerson serves as an SGA senator and a member of the UWA cheerleading squad and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
 

 

 

 

 

 



 


Smith

Tristan Smith of Robertsdale will represent the sophomore class. Smith is a pre-dentistry major and the daughter of Ted and Lynnie Smith. She serves as Panhellenic president and a member of the UWA cheerleading squad, Phi Mu sorority and Phi Eta Sigma and Beta Beta Beta honor societies. A Campus Activities Board director, Smith is also very active in intramural sports.
 

 

 

 




 


Lewis

Tearica Lewis of Silas is a member of the homecoming court. She is the daughter of Joe and Rebecca Roscoe. A senior sociology major, Lewis is a member of the Scarlet Band from Tiger Land. She also serves as a resident assistant and a Student Support Services tutor. Chosen as one of Livingston’s Loveliest, she is also a member of Alpha Chi, Cardinal Key, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma and Psi Chi honor societies.
 

 

 

 

 


 


Morgan

Amanda Morgan of Pensacola, Fla., is a member of the homecoming court. The daughter of David and Karen Morgan, she is a junior business management major. Morgan serves as co-captain of the Tiger tennis team and Students in Free Enterprise president. She is a member of Blue Key and Delta Mu Delta honor societies and Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. She has also served as SGA representative, Orientation Leader, UWA Ambassador and member of the Tiger volleyball team.
 

 

 

 

 

 


Peabody

Amanda Peabody of Mobile is a member of the homecoming court. A senior majoring in English language arts education, she is the daughter of Robert and Gail Peabody. Voted a UWA Favorite, she serves as a hall director and a LEAD alumni ambassador. Peabody is a member of Blue Key, Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Tau Delta honor societies and the UWA Honors Program. She has also served as captain of the Stars of Alabama dance team, a peer tutor and a member of the 2007 Homecoming court.
 

 

 



 


Smith

Kim Smith of Livingston is a member of the homecoming court. She is the daughter of Brad and Kathy Smith. A senior business administration major, she has served as an Orientation Leader, resident assistant, Student Government Association senator and a member of the Stars of Alabama dance team. Phi Mu sorority vice president, she is also a member of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity and Alpha Chi, Blue Key, Cardinal Key, Delta Mu Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. Smith is also active in the Presbyterian Campus Ministries. A LEAD alumni ambassador, she was also chosen as one of Livingston’s Loveliest and a member of the 2007 Homecoming court.
 

 


 


Stoudemire

Traneshia Stoudemire of Andalusia is a member of the homecoming court. She is the daughter of Tommy and Sandra Stoudemire. A junior elementary education major, she is a member of the UWA cheerleading squad and Alpha Chi honor society. Stoudemire also serves as a UWA Ambassador and Orientation Leader.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 



The seven ladies will ride through downtown Livingston in the homecoming parade Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. They will also be presented during halftime of the UWA-West Georgia football game. President Richard D. Holland and last year’s queen, Brittany Berry, will crown the new homecoming queen.
