LIVINGSTON,
Ala.--The
University of West Alabama has announced the hiring
of a UWA graduate to direct the University’s planned
giving and other development efforts.

Stan Narewski |
Stan Narewski joined
the UWA Foundation June 1 as Director of Major and
Planned Gifts. He now is responsible for obtaining
private funds from individuals, corporations and
foundations through outright and deferred gifts. He
will work closely with members of the Richard and
Rebecca Holland Legacy Society, which was recently
established to recognize and honor generous donors
who have named UWA as a beneficiary in their estate
plans.
Narewski and Director
of Development Wes Gordon will share
responsibilities formerly held by John Crawford, who
left UWA in April for an advancement position in
another state.
A Birmingham native,
Narewski comes to UWA from Wallace State Community
College where he served as an instructor and track
coach for 12 years. A four-time national coach of
the year, he has worked in college athletics for
more than 30 years. A 1971 UWA business
administration and economics graduate, Narewski also
holds a master’s degree in education from Auburn
University.
“We are pleased that
Stan has returned to his alma mater to further our
development efforts,” said Clemit Spruiell, vice
president for institutional advancement. “His
knowledge of UWA and his higher education experience
will be important factors as we work to achieve the
University’s fundraising goals for “The University
We Will Be” campaign and beyond.”
“The University We Will
Be” capital campaign is an ongoing effort to raise
$15 million in private support for a range of
academic enrichment, outreach and construction
needs.
The UWA Foundation
administers most campus fundraising activities and
endowment funds, garnering annual support with gifts
from individual donors, corporations, foundations,
trusts and estates.
