LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—More
than 40 academically achieving juniors, seniors and
graduate students at The University of West Alabama
are new members of the university chapter of the
Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Founded in
1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is
the nation's oldest, largest and most selective
all-discipline honor society.
Phi Kappa
Phi inducts annually approximately 30,000 students,
faculty, professional staff and alumni on nearly 300
select college and university campuses in North
America and the Philippines. Membership is by
invitation only to the top 10 percent of seniors and
graduate students and 7.5 percent of juniors.
Faculty, professional staff and alumni who have
achieved scholarly distinction also qualify.
In
addition to the students, two faculty members and
one staff member were also inducted. They include
Dr. Jeff Gentsch of history, Shelia Limerick of the
Julia S. Tutwiler Library and Dr. Andrew Rindsberg
of environmental science.
