UWA honors retirees

LIVINGSTON, Ala.--The University of West Alabama honored 13 longtime employees for their years of dedicated service at a recent retirement reception held at the end of the spring semester. The honorees included, from left, Coleman James, housekeeping staff; Dorothy James, housekeeping staff; Charlie Clark, grounds crew; Mattie Richardson, housekeeping staff; Dr. Alvin Marson, professor of teacher education; Dr. Julia Massey, dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Dr. Tom DeVaney, dean of the School of Graduate Studies; Sylvia Homan, associate professor and chairperson of the Division of Nursing; Jeff Hood, UWA police chief; Dr. Billy Ward, professor of accounting and business administration; Clarence Egbert, registrar; and Jim Todd, associate professor of computer information systems. Former biology professor Dr. Richard Buckner (not pictured) was also recognized. As a thank you for many years of devotion to the institution, each retiree received a personalized UWA rocking chair or a silver platter from the University.
