LIVINGSTON,
Ala.--The
Sucarnochee Revue, the nationally syndicated radio
program that showcases Black Belt music to listeners
across the nation and the world, returns to The
University of West Alabama Friday, August 22 for a
live taping of the popular musical variety show. The
show begins at 7 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium.
Presenting
Black Belt music in its most authentic manner, the
Revue features many of the top acts in blues,
gospel, bluegrass, country and roots music from the
Black Belt region of Mississippi and Alabama.
“The show
not only preserves original music and the works by
original artists, but also captures the evolution of
that music and its current generation of
performers,” said producer and host Jacky Jack
White.
This
month’s featured artists include top Nashville
songwriter Jim McBride; the Singing Judge Barry
Medley from McMinnville,Tenn.; Don and Karen Mcnatt,
singer/songwriter television artists from Nashville;
and Jon Mark Stone, top country music session
guitarist and songwriter.
Jim
McBride has reached No. 1 on the charts with “Rose
In Paradise” by Waylon Jennings; “Bet Your Heart on
Me” by Johnny Lee; and “Chasin' That Neon Rainbow,”
“Someday,” “Chattahoochee” and “Who Says You Can't
Have It All” by Alan Jackson.
In 1994,
McBride won the Country Music Association Award for
Song of the Year for “Chattahoochee,” co-written
with Alan Jackson. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame
awarded him with its Music Creator Award in 1995. He
has received various other music industry awards
from ASCAP, BMI, Nashville Songwriter's Association
and others.
McBride’s
songs have also been recorded by superstars Alabama,
Johnny Cash, George Jones, Brenda Lee, Charley
Pride, Anne Murray, Reba McEntire, Jerry Lee Lewis,
Johnny Paycheck, Crystal Gayle, Mickey Gilley,
Travis Tritt, Randy Travis, John Anderson, Patty
Loveless and many others.
The
Sucarnochee Revue regulars, including Jacky Jack
White, Mississippi Chris Sharp and the Jangalangs,
J. Burton Fuller, Britt Gully, Track 45 and special
guests, the Watermill Opry Band, will round out the
performance.
The
Sucarnochee Revue can be heard on numerous
commercial and public radio stations across the
country. The show airs Saturday nights at 10 p.m. on
Alabama Public Radio.
