Sucarnochee Revue host and producer Jacky Jack White
says the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel has
also agreed to become a major sponsor of the show.
“Lee Sentell, Tommy Cauthen, Grey Brennan and all
the fine folks of the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and
Travel have gone out of their way to support our
radio show. We are expecting to pick up as many as
50 more radio stations this year, and with this
television production, we feel the Sucarnochee Revue
has really climbed up another step or two on the
ladder,” White said.
“From the start, we have seen this show as a boon
for tourism and commerce in our part of Alabama.”
Presenting Black Belt music in its most authentic
manner, the Revue features many of the top acts in
blues, gospel, bluegrass, country and roots music
from the Black Belt region of Mississippi and
Alabama. The show not only preserves original music
and the works by original artists, but also captures
the evolution of that music and its current
generation of performers, according to White.
This edition of the Sucarnochee Revue will feature
singer/songwriter Alan Hartzell; roots musicians,
the Junebugs; bluegrass banjo great Herb Trottman;
slide guitarist and Christian songwriter Gypsy Karns;
folk artist and Greensboro, Ala., mayor Vanessa Hill; and
country gospel singer Wayne Dees.
The Sucarnochee Revue regulars, including Jacky Jack
White, J. Burton Fuller, Britt Gully, Track 45 and
Mississippi Chris Sharp and the Jangalang String
Band, will round out the performance.
The Sucarnochee Revue, sponsored by UWA and
Weyerhaeuser Company, can be heard on commercial and
public radio stations across the country. The show
airs Saturday nights at 10 p.m. on Alabama Public
Radio.
Tickets are $5. For more information about the show,
