a previous taping of the
nationally-syndicated radio show. |
The Sucarnochee Revue, which began in February 2005,
presents Black Belt music in its most authentic
manner. The hour-long radio program, taped live and
then broadcast on stations in Alabama, Mississippi,
Colorado and New York and worldwide via the
internet, has introduced its loyal following to a
variety of musical and literary artists from the
region.
“What surprises people about the show is the
fantastic range of musical genres,” said Jacky Jack
White, the Revue’s producer and host. “We have
blues, jazz, Dixieland, gospel, bluegrass, classical
and more. Historically, there is an incredible
amount of talent in the area.”
The upcoming taping will feature Sumter County
singers/guitarists Danny and Danielle Buckalew,
ragtime pianist Manley Blackwell, folk singer Father
Richard Losch and Broadway tune singer Suzanne
McGahey.
The Fedora Brothers, traditional singers and
finger-style guitarists, are also slated to perform.
Nashville-based musicians and scholars Bruce Nemerov
and Gene Bush round out the list of guests.
The show’s regular acts, Mississippi Chris Sharp,
Mrs. Joyce Shearer, J. Burton Fuller, Britt Gully
and host/producer Jacky Jack White will also
perform.
Admission to the live taping of the Sucarnochee
Revue is $5. Sumter County Fine Arts Council members
