LIVINGSTON,
Ala.--The
Sucarnochee Revue, the nationally syndicated radio
program which showcases Black Belt music to
listeners across the nation and the world, will tape
a pair of shows in West Alabama this month, taking
the stage in Livingston on Friday, Oct. 19 and playing
Tuscaloosa’s Bama Theatre on Friday, Oct. 26.
Presenting Black Belt
music in its most authentic manner, the Revue
features many of the top acts in blues, gospel,
bluegrass, country and roots music from the Black
Belt region of Mississippi and Alabama. The show not
only preserves original music and the works by
original artists, but also captures the evolution of
that music and its current generation of performers,
according to producer and host Jacky Jack White.
The Revue’s first stop,
The University of West Alabama’s Bibb Graves
Auditorium, features the Sullivan Family, bluegrass
gospel pioneers who have toured together for more
than 50 years; country songwriters Rock Killough and
Billy Ray Reynolds; and Livingston singers Amy
Potter and E. J. Brophy. The show begins at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $5 at the door.
The Sucarnochee Revue’s
next performance Friday, Oct. 26 is MoonPie night at
the Bama Theatre, with every audience member
receiving a free MoonPie from the Chattanooga
Bakery. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the show will
feature Nashville singer Hank Adam Locklin; acoustic
duo All Around Hounds; Mississippi bluegrass group,
the Mayhem String Band; country blues and gospel
duo, the Fedora Brothers; Civil War musicians, the
5th Alabama Infantry Regiment Band; country singer
Rick McWilliams; the Hopkins Family; and Michael
Bowman of Henri's Notions.
Sponsored in part by
the Locker Room, this show is the final performance
of the 2007 season. Tickets are $15 at the door.
The Sucarnochee Revue
regulars, including Jacky Jack White, J. Burton
Fuller, Britt Gully, Track 45 and Mississippi Chris
Sharp and the Jangalang String Band, will round out
both performances.
The Sucarnochee Revue,
sponsored by UWA and Weyerhaeuser Company, can be
heard on commercial and public radio stations across
the country. The show airs Saturday nights at 10
p.m. on Alabama Public Radio. For more information
