LIVINGSTON, Ala.--The University of West Alabama will celebrate the second annual Super Tiger Day on Saturday, March 1 on the UWA campus.

Six Tiger athletic teams will be competing that day, with Gulf South Conference action on the diamond and the hardwood.

“We want to invite all of our great Tiger fans to join us on Super Tiger Day here at UWA,” athletic director E. J. Brophy said. “This annual event draws people of all ages who love our university to come and cheer for our teams while visiting with one another. We see it as a mini-homecoming in the spring.”

The day begins at 10 a.m. with Coach Bobby Wallace’s team taking the field for a football scrimmage at Tiger Stadium and with a women’s tennis match against Arkansas Tech at the Howard R. Vaughan Tennis Complex. At the newly renovated UWA Softball Complex, the Tigers will host Crichton at noon. The UWA baseball team will take on GSC rival Delta State University in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Tartt Field, while the women’s basketball team hosts its final home game against GSC and in-state rival Montevallo in Pruitt Gym. At 4 p.m., men’s basketball also takes on Montevallo, while the softball team returns to action against Christian Brothers.

In addition, UWA invites prospective students and their families to campus for the University’s annual spring Preview Day.

Designed to inform high school and community college students about all aspects of the 173-year-old institution, the day will start with lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Student Union Building, followed by tours of the Livingston campus. Complimentary tickets to the UWA baseball games are available for Preview Day participants and guests. To register for Preview Day events, please call the Office of Admissions at 1-888-636-8800 or visit www.admissions.uwa.edu/springpreviewday.asp
