LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—University
of West Alabama Director of Athletics, E.J. Brophy,
has announced March 17 as Super Tiger Day on the UWA
campus.
Five
Tiger athletic teams will be competing that day,
including four Gulf South Conference games on the
diamond.
“We
want to invite all of our great Tiger fans to join
us on Super Tiger Day here at UWA,” Brophy said. “We
hope to make this an annual event where people of
all ages who love our university can come and cheer
for our teams while visiting with one another. I
hope it will eventually grow into a mini-homecoming
in years to come.”
The
day begins at 11 a.m. with the UWA men’s and women’s
tennis teams competing against Transylvania
University at the Howard R. Vaughan Tennis Complex.
At the newly renovated UWA Softball Complex, the
Tigers will host the University of Alabama in
Huntsville in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. The UWA
baseball team will also be in action against UAH, as
the Tigers host the Chargers in a doubleheader
beginning at 4 p.m. Tiger fans will also be able to
take in the 2007 spring football game under the
lights at Tiger Stadium, with the scrimmage
scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
In
addition, UWA invites prospective students and their
families to campus for the University’s annual
spring Preview Day.
Designed to inform high school and community college
students about all aspects of the 172-year-old
institution, the day will start with lunch at noon
at the Bell Conference Center, followed by tours of
the Livingston campus. Complimentary tickets to the
UWA baseball games are available for Preview Day
participants and guests. To register for Preview Day

The UWA
rodeo team will hold a crawfish boil at Tartt Field
beginning at noon. Tiger Wranglers will be on hand
at both diamonds, selling the mudbugs to softball
and baseball fans. Proceeds from the sale will be
used to send the team to this summer's College
National Finals.
The
Sumter County Alumni Chapter will also host a
cookout during Super Tiger Day with head football
Coach Bobby Wallace serving as guest speaker. The
cookout begins 3 p.m. at Tartt Field prior to the
first baseball game.
The UWA
bookstore, located in the Student Union Building,
will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. with a variety of
Tiger apparel and gifts.
UWA
hopes to see prospective students, current Tigers,
alumni and friends in Livingston for the inaugural
