LIVINGSTON,
Ala.--The
University of West Alabama welcomes TyAnne Smith
Stone, UWA alumna and former National Alumni
Association president, as the new director of alumni
relations. Stone, a Choctaw County native, returns
to her alma mater after working with the Alabama
Department of Human Resources for many years.

“I
am very excited to return to UWA as director of
alumni relations,” Stone said. “It feels like coming
home because this university has always been such a
part of me.”
Stone brings experience and passion to her new
position, which includes overseeing alumni chapter
programming for the 173-year-old University. She
will also assist in fund raising for “The University
We Will Be” campaign. Stone has served as secretary,
vice president and president of the UWA National
Alumni Association.
“TyAnne is going to be an asset to this university,”
said Clemit Spruiell, vice president for
institutional advancement. “She has already formed
many relationships through her years of volunteer
service to the alumni association, and we look
forward to the growth of our alumni chapters and
events under her direction.”
Stone received her bachelor’s degree in social
science with a psychology minor from UWA. She is
very active in numerous Sumter County organizations.
She
is married to Dr. Gary Stone, UWA Emeritus Professor
of Technology. |
