Wallace, who enters his
third season leading the Tigers, is one of many
members of the UWA faculty and staff who have chosen
to support a specific campus project.
“In my time in
Livingston, I have come to realize how much this
university means to so many people, especially the
student-athletes, so I wanted to contribute to this
great cause,” said Wallace, the first coach in NCAA
history to win three consecutive national
championships. “I decided to contribute to the
library to show my appreciation for the academic
services provided at UWA.”
Dr. Neil Snider,
director of the Tutwiler Library, says his
department is very pleased with the recent gift.
“It is very appropriate
that we name the conference room for the Wallaces
because this room is used by the athletic department
for supervised study every night of the week,”
Snider said. “I appreciate the monetary gift very
much, and I also appreciate the initiative the
athletic department takes to help the University’s
student-athletes improve their study skills.”
“The University We Will
Be” campaign is an ongoing initiative to raise $15
million in gifts and pledges by 2011 for The
University of West Alabama. These funds will improve
campus facilities, provide additional scholarships,
enhance the campus learning environment, support the
faculty and fund community outreach projects. For
