LIVINGSTON,
Ala.--The
University of West Alabama’s Division of Outreach
Services will host a free half-day workplace safety
seminar Thursday, Nov. 15, teaching the newly
revised American Red Cross techniques for first aid,
CPR and automated external defibrillator programs.
Seminar topics will include advances in lifesaving
techniques, incorporating new science and
featuring educational innovations to enhance the
learning experience for students. Participants
will learn emergency responses through a “practice
while you watch” instructional method. New
training materials specific to workplace
environments will enhance the relevancy of training.
An
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
educator will also be on-site to discuss OSHA
regulations as they apply to specific businesses. In
addition, participants will learn how to use
an automated external defibrillator to help save a
life.
“I
urge everyone in the workplace to attend this free
seminar,” said Kenneth Walker, director of
outreach services. “This important training will
provide the confidence to respond to
emergencies with skills that can save lives.”
The
seminar begins at 8 a.m. in the Bell Conference
Center with a free continental breakfast, and it
lasts until 11:45 a.m. The seminar registration
