LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—The
University of West Alabama will host a Health Fair
on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the UWA
Wellness Center, located on the bottom floor of the
Student Union Building. The event is open to all
faculty, staff, students and community residents.
Health professionals from across the region will
perform screenings at no cost.
York Drug
representatives will check blood sugar and
cholesterol levels, and the UWA Athletic Trainers
will assess blood pressure. The UWA Physical
Education Department will measure height, weight,
body composition and body mass index. Meridian Eye
Clinic employees will perform eye screenings, and
the Sumter County Health Department and Bryan
Whitfield Memorial Hospital will have information
booths. Certified personal trainer Shonna Tatum will
also provide personal training consultations to
those wanting to start a fitness routine.
“We want everyone to
come out to the Wellness Center and take advantage
of the services being offered,” said Tatum. “It is
all free, so this is a perfect opportunity to assess
your health.”
