LIVINGSTON, Ala.—The University of West Alabama will host a Health Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the UWA Wellness Center, located on the bottom floor of the Student Union Building. The event is open to all faculty, staff, students and community residents. Health professionals from across the region will perform screenings at no cost.

York Drug representatives will check blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and the UWA Athletic Trainers will assess blood pressure. The UWA Physical Education Department will measure height, weight, body composition and body mass index. Meridian Eye Clinic employees will perform eye screenings, and the Sumter County Health Department and Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital will have information booths. Certified personal trainer Shonna Tatum will also provide personal training consultations to those wanting to start a fitness routine.

“We want everyone to come out to the Wellness Center and take advantage of the services being offered,” said Tatum. “It is all free, so this is a perfect opportunity to assess your health.”
