LIVINGSTON,
Ala.—If
you can’t wait until Sunday nights to catch the
latest drama on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” or if
you live for the suspense in daily soap operas, then
UWA Theatre’s fall production of Euripides’s
Medea is the show for you! The play
begins Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Bibb Graves
Auditorium. The show, under the direction of James
McGahey, will run through Saturday, Nov. 12.

Scott Grimsley
rehearses the role of Jason. |
The
production, based on Ian Johnston’s translation of
the Greek tragedy, gives the play a modern twist.
Medea, played by graduate student Alicia Seale, must
take revenge on her former husband Jason, played by
junior Scott Grimsley, for betraying her. Whitney
Rose and Jennifer Brown will play the Women of
Corinth, and Cassie Batley is the Nurse. Scott
Batley contributes to one of the more
suspense-filled scenes as Aigeus, King of Athens.
Trey McCollins will play Kreon, King of Corinth, and
father of Jason’s new bride. Andrew Traeger will
portray Tudor, who could, quite possibly, steal the
show with his hysterical account of a horrific scene
he witnessed.
General admission for each of the four presentations
is $10. Admission is free for UWA students with
current student IDs, and UWA faculty and staff will
be admitted for half price with current staff IDs. |
