HOT STUFF—Members
of Alabama Art Castings heated scrap iron to over
2,000 degrees at Saturday's Sucarnochee Folklife
Festival in downtown Livingston. The molten
lava-like flow was poured into molds made by UWA art
classes and festival visitors to produce metal
trivets. The group was one of several folk art
demonstrators at the festival, which is sponsored by
UWA. Pottery, basketry, woodcarving, blacksmithing
and other crafts were also on display at the annual
festival. (April 23, 2007) |
