Two former professors inducted into Society of the Golden Key--UWA recently inducted two former physical education professors, Dr. Hortense Hester and Virginia E. Young, into the Society of the Golden Key, the highest honor bestowed upon a UWA graduate or faculty member. Read more
 
UWA welcomes critically acclaimed, bestselling Alabama authors--The University of West Alabama welcomes four Alabama writers, including critically acclaimed authors Sena Jeter Naslund and William Cobb, for a panel discussion moderated by Emmy Award winning host Don Noble. “It’s All in the Family,” which also includes Naslund’s brother John Sims Jeter and Cobb’s wife Loretta, takes place Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in the Bell Conference Center. Small Business Development Center graduates first NxLevel entrepreneurial class--The University of West Alabama’s Small Business Development Center, in financial partnership the Greene Sumter Enterprise Community Inc., provided 14 weeks of entrepreneurial training through NxLevel classes to 21 residents of Choctaw, Greene, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties, with the class consisting of both existing and prospective business owners. Read more
 
The Sucarnochee Revue tapes live April 20--The Sucarnochee Revue, a nationally syndicated radio program, takes the stage Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. for a live taping in the University of West Alabama's Bibb Graves Auditorium. Read more
 
Students inducted into Phi Kappa Phi--More than 40 academically achieving juniors, seniors and graduate students at UWA are new members of the university chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline honor society. Read more
 
  
Tigers take series from Valdosta State--UWA picked up its third Gulf South Conference series win, as the Tigers (26-10, 7-2 GSC) turned back Valdosta State 4-2 in the rubber game of the series at Tartt Field on Sunday afternoon. Read more
 
UWA gets split with Judson College--The University of West Alabama softball team broke out of a four-game skid by splitting with Judson College Monday afternoon as the Tigers dropped the first game, 6-4, but bounced back with a 12-4 victory in six innings in the second contest. Read more

UWA falls to No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State--The UWA men’s tennis team fell to No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State University Saturday afternoon, 8-0 at the Ralph “Skeeter” Carson Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of West Florida. Read more
 

UWA announces partnership with UNICEL--University of West Alabama Director of Athletics E. J. Brophy recently announced a three-year corporate agreement with UNICEL, one of the premiere wireless communication entities in the United States. Read more
 
  
Mobile County Alumni Chapter meeting--The Mobile County Chapter of the National Alumni Association will hold its annual spring dinner meeting Tuesday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. at Gordon Oaks at Knollwood. Higher Ed Day--The Higher Education Partnership will hold its annual Higher Ed Day rally on the steps of the Alabama Statehouse on Thursday, April 5 at 11 a.m. in Montgomery.
