UWA dedicates Wallace Conference Room--The University of West Alabama recently dedicated the Sharon and Bobby Wallace Conference Room in the Julia Tutwiler Library, named in honor of the head football coach and his wife in recognition of their $25,000 gift to “The University We Will Be” campaign for UWA. UWA plans memorial service for Dr. David W. Bowen--The University of West Alabama will hold a memorial service for Dr. David W. Bowen, former professor and chairman of the UWA Department of History and Social Sciences, Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Bell Conference Center. Read more
 
Tigers celebrate College Colors Day--The University of West Alabama is proud to participate in National College Colors Day 2008 to be held Friday, Aug. 29. The fourth annual nationwide event promotes the traditions and spirit of UWA by encouraging faculty, staff, students, alumni and fans to wear Red and White. Read more
 
  
UWA begins preparation for Belhaven College--The University of West Alabama football team prepares for its 2008 season opener on Saturday, Aug. 30, as the Tigers host Belhaven College at 7:00 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. Read more
 
White Squad tops Red in UWA volleyball scrimmage--Entering the final week of pre-season practices, West Alabama head coach Nathan Baker put his volleyball Tigers through an intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Pruitt Hall. Read more




 
  
Greater Montgomery Area Alumni dinner--UWA's Greater Montgomery Area Alumni Chapter will hold its summer event Thursday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at The Ox Yoke Steakhouse and Grill, located at 931 U.S. Highway 231 in Wetumpka. President Richard D. Holland will serve as guest speaker. The chapter includes members from Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery counties. A tax deductible contribution of $15 per person or $20 per family will go to UWA’s Greater Montgomery Area Scholarship Fund. Sumter County Alumni tailgate--The Sumter County Alumni Chapter will kick-off the 2008 football season with a tailgate party Saturday, Aug. 30, prior to the UWA-Belhaven College season opener. The social, which features food, friends and fun, begins at 5 p.m. at the President’s Home on the UWA campus. All UWA alumni and friends are invited to attend. A tax deductible contribution of $15 per person or $25 per family will go to UWA’s Sumter County Alumni Scholarship Fund. Marengo County Alumni social--The Marengo County Alumni Chapter will hold its fall kick-off social and meeting Tuesday, Sept. 2 at the Demopolis Country Club. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served beginning at 6 p.m., with the meeting to follow. President Richard D. Holland will serve as guest speaker.
