the construction of the Black Belt Garden, the
University is creating a peaceful, pleasant retreat
for all who visit. The only garden in the South
devoted to celebrating the flora of this region, the
Black Belt Garden, located on University Drive, will

majors can earn their degree on the criminal justice
track.

UWA welcomes Edmund S. Muskie scholar--The
University of West Alabama will soon host a Moldovan
scholar, the winner of an Edmund S. Muskie Graduate
Fellowship, as she works towards her master’s degree
in education. Galina Chira will arrive in August for
a two-year stay in Livingston.

Tigers
hold first practice of 2007 season--The
University of West Alabama football team took to the
field for its first practice of the 2007 season with
approximately 120 players taking part on the Tiger’s
practice field.

Tigers announce five signees--University
of West Alabama women’s basketball coach Amanda
Marks has announced the signing of five
student-athletes for the upcoming 2007-08 season,
joining early signee Hannah Phillips of Kingwood
Christian Academy.

resignation of rodeo coach Jayson Schoenfeld

| National Alumni Association hosts tailgate at
Samford--The Greater Birmingham
Area alumni chapter will host a pre-game tailgate
beginning at 3:30 p.m. prior to the season-opening
Samford University match up. Join us for Full Moon
Barbecue at the UWA tent on the Divinity School lawn
next to the visitor's side of the stadium. The
Tigers kickoff at 7 p.m. at Seibert Stadium on the
