the annual campus beauty pageant sponsored by Blue

UWA to hold commencement exercises Dec. 15--The
University of West Alabama will honor nearly 600
graduates during fall commencement exercises
Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007. The ceremony takes place at
10:30 a.m. in Pruitt Gymnasium on the UWA campus,
with the Presidential Reception open to all
graduates and their guests beginning at 8 a.m. in
the Bell Conference Center.

UWA's McIlwain Bell awards presented--University
of West Alabama Provost David Taylor recently
announced the recipients of the annual Loraine
McIlwain Bell Trustee Awards. Holly Holycross,
administrative assistant to the provost, received
the Support Staff Excellence Award. Mike Pratt,
interim director of information systems, was
presented with the Professional Staff Excellence
Award. Dr. Tom DeVaney, professor of education and
dean of the School of Graduate Studies, was named
the 2008 Trustee Professor.

tops Lynn 65-67--The University
of West Alabama men’s basketball team picked up its
second win of the season and snapped a five-game
losing streak with a 67-65 win over Lynn University
in the final game of Flagler Construction Equipment
Classic at Valdosta State University.

fall 76-74 in overtime to ATU--The
University of West Alabama women’s basketball team
dropped a 76-74 overtime decision to Arkansas Tech
Saturday afternoon at Pruitt Hall, despite a
career-high 25 points from Ashton Washington.
