Wilkins announces retirement--UWA Professor of History and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies Dr. Joe B. Wilkins announced his retirement, effective Jan. 2, 2007. Read more
 
Brazilian business scholar kicks off the 2007 Fulbright Lecture Series--UWA kicks off the 2007 Fulbright Lecture Series as the College of Business welcomes Brazilian business scholar Dr. Adalberto A. Fischmann. Fischmann will present, “International competitiveness between America and Brazil,” on Monday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Bell Conference Center. Read more

Men gets first conference win over UNA--Stan Gill recorded a career-high 31 points, as UWA snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the University of North Alabama, 79-69. Read more

Women win 10th straight at home--The University of West Alabama women’s basketball team held off the University of North Alabama to earn its 10th consecutive victory at home with a 75-65 win. Read more

Reedy announces retirement--Longtime UWA men’s basketball coach Rick Reedy recently announced his retirement effective April 1, 2007. Read more
 
Tigers announce Grand Slam Dinner--The University of West Alabama baseball team is proud to announce its plans for the 2007 Grand Slam Dinner scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26 in the Bell Conference Center, featuring guest speaker Jason Smith, current major league baseball player and former Demopolis High School standout .  Central Florida chapter meets--The Central Florida Chapter of the National Alumni Association met Jan. 6 in Orlando to connect Tigers living in the Sunshine State. See pictures
 
 
  • Jan. 18--"MARK TWAIN! On Stage" performed by John Chappell. 7:30 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium. Presented by the Sumter County Fine Arts Council. Adults-$7 and students-$2. Admission for SCFAC members and UWA students is free.
