Tucker selected to lead College of Business--The University of West Alabama recently announced Dr. Ken Tucker’s appointment as professor of management and dean of the College of Business. He has most recently served as interim director of the University’s Regional Center for Community and Economic Development. Read more
 
Black Belt Action leads to change--Honors program students from UWA and the University of Alabama recently collaborated to learn about the rich history and culture of the Black Belt and to serve in this region rife with economic and social challenges. Read more
 
The Sucarnochee Revue heads to EMCC--The Sucarnochee Revue, a nationally syndicated radio program, takes the stage Friday, July 20, at 7 p.m. for a live taping at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba. Read more
 
  
UWA announces partnership with Y-104.9--The University of West Alabama Athletic Department has announced a partnership with Gospel Hits Y-104.9 WSLY for the upcoming athletic season. Read more
 
Wranglers compete at National Rodeo Finals--Members of the University of West Alabama rodeo team competed in the College National Rodeo Finals at the Casper Events Center in Casper, Wyoming June 10 through June 16. Read more
 
  
Four-man scramble planned for Aug. 3 in Tuscaloosa--The Tuscaloosa Alumni Chapter and the UWA Volleyball team will host a four-man scramble golf tournament Friday, Aug. 3 at the Tuscaloosa Country Club. The entry fee is $300 per team. Registration begins at noon with a 1 p.m. tee time. Prizes include Nike drivers, putters and golf bags, Adidas apparel and more. Proceeds from the tournament will help support the UWA Volleyball team and the Tuscaloosa Credit Union UWA Scholarship. For more information, contact the Alumni Office at 205-652-3586.

  • July 23--Tiger Club meeting. 6 p.m. at the Tiger Room at Tiger Stadium. Meeting will include dinner and a tour of athletic facilities across campus. Tiger Club members and guests are invited. Tickets are $10. Please RSVP by July 16 by calling 205-652-3652.

  • Aug. 13--UWA Kickoff Dinner featuring Coach Bobby Wallace, guest speaker Eli Gold and sports memorabilia silent auction. 6:30 p.m. in the Bell Conference Center.   • Aug. 30--UWA vs. Samford University. Kickoff at 7 p.m. at Seibert Stadium in Birmingham. Pre-game tailgate hosted by the UWA National Alumni Association begins at 4 p.m. next to the stadium.
