Lovett elected president of the UWA Board of Trustees--The University of West Alabama Board of Trustees at the June quarterly meeting elected Margaret Lovett of Russellville, Ala., as president of the board, the first woman ever to serve in this position at the University. Lovett, executive director of Southern Rural Health Care Consortium, will serve as president through a three-year term. Read more
 
UWA Greeks give to Enterprise High--With memories of their own high schools still fresh on their minds, University of West Alabama students empathized deeply with those displaced from storm-ravaged Enterprise High School. Compelled to action, UWA’s Greek organizations recently donated over $5,000 directly to the school’s relief efforts. Read more
 
UWA nursing awards announced at convocation--Several graduates of the University of West Alabama Ira D. Pruitt Division of Nursing were honored with special awards during the annual nursing convocation held in Bibb Graves Auditorium. Read more
 
  
UWA hires Fanelli to lead tennis programs--The University of West Alabama Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Glen Fanelli as Head Coach of the men’s and women’s tennis programs, effective immediately. Read more
 
Baseball inks five signees--University of West Alabama baseball coach Gary Rundles has announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2008 season. Three athletes from the community college ranks and two high school seniors make up the signing class. Read more

 
  
Two-man scramble planned for June 30 in Livingston--The UWA/Coca-Cola Golf Tournament for Academic Excellence is set for Saturday, June 30 at the Livingston Country Club. The two-man scramble is $150 per team, which includes 27 holes of golf and a barbeque lunch. Registration is set for 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. tee time. Cash prizes will be awarded. Proceeds will fund UWA scholarships. Space is limited to 32 teams. Pre-register by calling the Alumni Office at 205-652-3586 or click here.
