a recent campus-wide election, University of West
Alabama students recognized a pair of seniors who
exemplify the University experience by honoring J.D.
Todd of Ward as Mr. UWA and Elizabeth Vaughan of
Sandy, Utah, as Ms. UWA. Students also elected five
juniors and seniors as UWA Favorites.

UWA Fulbright Lecture Series welcomes fourth
international scholar--The
University of West Alabama concludes the 2008
Fulbright Lecture Series as the College of Natural
Sciences and Mathematics welcomes Dr. Guillermo
Labadie of Argentina, who was chosen to teach this
year in the University of Mississippi’s School of
Pharmacy. The fourth Fulbright scholar visiting UWA
this semester, Labadie will present a public lecture
on Tuesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. in UWA’s Brock Y-Hall.

Tigers
conclude season at GSC Tournament--The
University of West Alabama women’s basketball team
had its season concluded on Thursday afternoon in
the Gulf South Conference Women’s Basketball
Tournament, as the Tigers fall to Arkansas Tech,
76-69, in the DeSoto Civic Center. UWA finishes the
season 13-15 on the year and 8-5 in GSC play.

softball begins busy week with St. Leo--West
Alabama’s softball team will begin an eight-game
week on Monday, March 10, hosting St. Leo out of the
state of Florida. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at
the UWA Softball Complex on the UWA campus.

UAM baseball series cancelled due to weather--Last
weekend’s three-game baseball series between No. 3
West Alabama and Arkansas at Monticello on the UAM
campus was cancelled due to weather issues. The
Tigers, 17-4, swept UAM during a midweek
doubleheader at home. UWA returns to action on
Tuesday, March 11, as the Tigers host Columbia Union
College in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled
for 4 p.m.

| Mobile County chapter dinner planned for
April 1--The
Mobile County Alumni Chapter will hold its annual
spring dinner meeting Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m.
at Gordon Oaks Assisted Living Center. Proceeds fund alumni
scholarships for Mobile County students. For more
