UWA hosts Rockin’ and Roarin’ homecoming weekend--The University of West Alabama will celebrate Homecoming Oct. 31-Nov. 3, honoring alumni of the 1950s and 1960s with a “Rockin’ and Roarin’” weekend. Read more

 
Gordon named UWA Associate Director of Development--The University of West Alabama has announced the promotion of one of its own as the University’s new Associate Director of Development. Read more
 
"Red, Hot...& Blue!" musical revue comes to UWA on Oct. 2--The hit song and dance revue from Branson, Mo., “Red, Hot… & Blue!” will make a stop in Livingston during its seventh coast-to-coast tour. Sponsored by the Sumter County Fine Arts Council, the group will perform Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium on the University of West Alabama campus. Read more
 
UWA receives state grants for folk art programming--The University of West Alabama’s Center for the Study of the Black Belt recently received a pair of grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the official state arts agency of Alabama, to continue the University’s work in promoting Black Belt culture. This year’s awards support the Center’s efforts to maintain the musical traditions of the region. Read more
 
  
UWA claims school record 18th straight win--The University of West Alabama volleyball team made history Saturday with a 3-0 sweep of Albany State. With the victory, the Tigers broke the school record for consecutive wins with their 18th consecutive triumph. Read more

 
UWA falls short against Harding, 36-35--The University of West Alabama suffered a 36-35 setback to Harding Saturday night at Tiger Stadium in front of a crowd of 5,268. Read more

 
Lady Wranglers post strong showing at SAU rodeo--The UWA Wranglers competed in the Southern Arkansas rodeo this weekend with the women’s team claiming third place with 205 points. Read more
 
  
Mobile County chapter dinner planned for Oct. 2--The Mobile County alumni chapter will hold its annual fall dinner meeting Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at Gordon Oaks at Knollwood. UWA band director Glen Smith will serve as the guest speaker. Tickets are $8 per person, with proceeds funding alumni scholarships for Mobile County students. Sumter County chapter sponsors West Georgia bus trip--The Sumter County alumni chapter will sponsor a chartered bus to Carrollton, Ga. for the Oct. 13 football game against West Georgia. The $100 per person fee includes roundtrip bus ride, pre-game meal and football game ticket. Proceeds from the trip will fund alumni scholarships for Sumter County students. Seats must be reserved by Wednesday, Oct 3. For more information, call Lolita Smith at 205-652-7459 or the Office of Alumni Affairs at 205-652-3586.
