| Former UWA student killed in Iraq--The
University of West Alabama joins family and friends
in mourning the death of an Alabama soldier from
Prattville. Army officials report that 19-year-old
Private Stephen Bicknell, a member of the 82nd
Airborne Division, lost his life Oct. 15 when his
Humvee struck a land mine in Iraq.

Tigers
get sixth win, ready for Delta State TV game--For
the first time since 1992, UWA will have a winning
season, as the Tigers spoiled Arkansas-Monticello’s
homecoming with a 37-14 win.

Wranglers host rodeo--The Tiger Wranglers hosted the UWA Tiger Showdown at the Don
C. Hines Rodeo Complex recently, with the women
winning the event and the men's squad placing fifth.

Women's basketball opens season at Alabama--Ashton
Washington, selected to the Preseason GSC Eastern
Division team, leads the Tigers as the
women's basketball team takes on the University of
Alabama in an exhibition game Halloween night. The
teams take the court at 7 p.m.

basketball heads to UAB--The
Tigers open their season Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in an
exhibition game against the University of Alabama at
Birmingham.
Senior Stan Gill, a Preseason GSC Eastern Division
team selection, is one of eight returning players.

Volleyball
falls in season finale--For the
second straight GSC match, the UWA volleyball team
had four players reach double figures in kills, but
it wasn’t enough to pull off a Senior Day upset of
Valdosta State, losing, 3-1, to the Lady Blazers
Saturday afternoon at Pruitt Hall.

Cross
country teams compete at GSC meet--The
UWA cross country teams recently competed in the GSC
championships in Huntsville. In the midst of a
rebuilding season, the harriers were looking to
improve upon their conference performance last
season.

Tennis
plays exhibition matches--The
University of West Alabama tennis teams faced off in
an exhibition match Monday afternoon with the Tiger
men defeating Itawamba Community College 9-0, but
saw the women fall 4-1.

Tigers invite all service men and women to
Veteran's Day game against UNA--The
UWA Tigers final home football game of the season
takes place Nov. 11, which is Veteran’s Day. To show
appreciation for all of our service men and women
and all they do for our country, UWA Football would
like to welcome all veterans to the game versus
North Alabama and provide complimentary admission
for all current and former military personnel.
Please join us Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. at Tiger Stadium
for our football game versus North Alabama. We would

from the Frank North Era have the chance to meet up
with former teammates and coaches Nov. 11. The

and friends from the 1970s can catch up Nov. 11. The
reunion begins at noon at the President's Home, with
