Watch new UWA commercials--UWA
has a pair of new commercials spotlighting eight
prominent graduates from across the United States.
The spots are currently running in Alabama,
Mississippi and Florida, but we want to share them
with you. Follow the link to download the

Enrollment numbers up again--The
University of West Alabama for the sixth consecutive
year posts record enrollment, with a total of 4,249
students taking classes on-campus and online at the
institution this fall, according to President
Richard D. Holland.

UWA receives $150,000 from Regions Bank--The
University of West Alabama recently accepted a gift
of $150,000 from Regions Bank to “The University We
Will Be” campaign for UWA. The contribution will
support UWA’s Center for the Study of the Black
Belt, which fosters greater appreciation and
understanding of Alabama’s Black Belt and its

Oct. 9--UWA
and the Sumter County Fine Arts Council present “All
the Way from Magnolia Springs,” a play adapted from
Alabama author Fannie Flagg’s bestseller “Daisy Fay
and the Miracle Man.”

University calling for mural ideas--The
University of West Alabama is calling on locals to
help tell the story of Sumter County by providing
ideas for an upcoming downtown mural project
scheduled to begin later this year.

wins Double OT thriller--In
just the second overtime game in school history, the
University of West Alabama topped Southern Arkansas
17-14 in double overtime Thursday night at Tiger
Stadium.

Melvin selected for UWA Athletic Hall of Fame--The
University of West Alabama announces its 2008
Athletic Hall of Fame class. Lawrence Samuels,
former Tiger and current Arena Football League
player, and Chance Melvin, former baseball standout,
become the 51st and 52nd members inducted at UWA.

fall to No. 21 West Florida--A
valiant effort by the University of West Alabama
volleyball team fell short against nationally-ranked
West Florida, falling 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Gulf
South Conference action.

completes Crimson Classic--The
UWA cross country team finished seventh on the men’s
side and ninth in the women’s event at the 20th
annual Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on
Saturday.

party for all UWA alumni and friends Saturday, Sept.
27 prior to the Valdosta State football game.

| Selma pre-game party Oct. 4--The
National Alumni Association will host a pre-game
party for
alumni and friends prior to the UWA vs. Concordia
football game Oct. 4. The event takes place from 11

| Mobile Chapter meeting Oct. 7--The Mobile
County Alumni Chapter's annual fall dinner meeting
is set for Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Gordon
Oaks Center at Knollwood. Dr. Ken
Tucker, dean of the College of Business and
president of the UWA Foundation Board of Directors,
will serve as guest speaker. Tickets are $10 per

| Make plans now for Homecoming 2008!--UWA
will honor alumni of the 1970s and 1980s at
Homecoming 2008 festivities on Oct. 24-25. Plans
include the annual Friday night party at the Moon
House and Saturday's parade, NAA meeting, reunions,
awards and more. The Tigers will face West Georgia
in a 5 p.m. matchup at Tiger Stadium. Come home to
