High school photography exhibit on display--This semester, photography by 13 Booker T. Washington Magnet High School sophomores, juniors and seniors is on display in The University of West Alabama’s Webb Hall Gallery. Read more
 
Bid Day activities held--UWA's three Panhellenic sororities invited new members to join them during Thursday's Bid Day activities. Thirty-two young women accepted bids. Alpha Sigma Alpha welcomed six ladies, Alpha Sigma Tau gained 10, and Phi Mu added 16. See picture
 
UWA Foundation Board recognizes Mason, names new officers--The UWA Foundation Board recently named Gladys Mason Director Emeritus and elected new members and officers. Read more
 
  
West Alabama routs Concordia--After much anticipation, Coach Bobby Wallace and his Tigers took the field Thursday night and came away with an easy win. Read more
Tigers take fourth at opening meet--The UWA cross country teams opened the season Friday night by placing fourth in the men’s and women’s event at the fourth annual Cougar Invitational at Columbus State University. Read more
Volleyball picks up first win at Belhaven tournament--Coach Ron Arenz captured his first win at UWA during weekend action in Jackson, Miss. The Tigers went 2-2 in the tournament, beating Rhodes College and host Belhaven College. Read more
  
LU Track reunion a big success--Members of the LU track teams recently gathered to celebrate the sport's 40th reunion, hosted by former coach Jerry Smith. See pictures

  • Sept. 8-9--Sumter County Fine Arts Council presents "Side by Side by Sondheim." 7:30 p.m. each evening in Bibb Graves Auditorium.
  • Sept. 11--UWA Board of Trustees quarterly meeting. 10:30 a.m. in the Bell Conference Center.
  • Sept. 11--Friends of International Students Association reception to welcome international students and faculty. The public is invited. 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Webb Hall Parlor.
  • Sept. 12--Master Gardener Certification Program begins. The 10-week course will meet Tuesdays from 5-9 p.m. in Bibb Graves 109. For more information, contact Shelly Findley, UWA Coordinator of Lifelong Learning, at 205-652-3647.
  • Sept. 12--Opening volleyball match against Montevallo. 7 p.m. at Pruitt Gym.
  • Sept. 14--Volleyball match against UNA. 7 p.m. at Pruitt Gym.
  • Sept. 16--Family Day at UWA. Volleyball match against Alabama-Huntsville at noon in Pruitt Gym. Picnic on the Armory lawn prior to kickoff. Football game against Southern Arkansas at 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. Other Family Day activities planned.
  • Ongoing--Booker T. Washington Magnet School photography show. Webb Hall Parlor. Weekdays, 8a.m. to 5 p.m.
